A Note From Dr. Scott Symington

Why I Created AskDrScott

For more than 22 years, I have had the privilege of helping individuals and couples create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that transformation rarely happens all at once. It unfolds through small moments—moments when we take what we’ve learned and apply it in the places where life is actually happening.

It might be someone practicing acceptance rather than fighting anxiety, interrupting a painful relationship pattern, choosing courage over avoidance, or taking a small step toward a meaningful goal.

Many of those moments happen between appointments:

  • A difficult conversation with a spouse
  • A sleepless night filled with worry
  • A stressful day at work
  • A major life decision
  • A moment of self-doubt

For years, I found myself wishing people had greater access to practical guidance and support during these moments. That desire eventually led to the creation of AskDrScott.

Throughout my career—as a psychologist, author, speaker, and developer of the Two-Screen Method—I have been guided by a simple belief:

With the right information, tools, and encouragement, we have the capacity for radical life transformation.

AskDrScott was created to make those insights, tools, and principles more accessible—so that practical guidance and encouragement are available not just during appointments, but in the everyday moments when they are needed most.

While AskDrScott is not a replacement for psychotherapy, it can serve as a trusted companion for personal growth, emotional wellbeing, stronger relationships, and a more meaningful life.

Why People Choose AskDrScott

Built Upon More Than Two Decades of Experience

AskDrScott reflects more than 22 years of helping people navigate anxiety, strengthen relationships, overcome destructive patterns, and create meaningful change. Rather than relying on generic advice, it is informed by the same evidence-based principles, practical strategies, and real-world insights that guide Dr. Symington's clinical work, writing, speaking, and development of the Two-Screen Method.

Private, Secure & Confidential

Meaningful growth begins with honesty. People are more likely to explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and challenges when they trust that their information is protected. AskDrScott was built with privacy and security as a core priority—conversations are encrypted, confidential, and protected using industry-standard security practices.

Powered by the Two-Screen Method

One of the unique features of AskDrScott is its integration of the Two-Screen Method—a practical framework developed by Dr. Scott Symington and featured in his Nautilus Award-winning book, Freedom from Anxious Thoughts and Feelings.

The Two-Screen Method was created to help people relate differently to anxiety, overthinking, worry, self-doubt, and other forms of emotional distress. Rather than becoming trapped in an exhausting battle with difficult thoughts and emotions, people learn a new way of responding to them.

It provides a practical framework for reducing the influence of problematic thoughts and feelings so you can live with greater freedom, purpose, and engagement in the life unfolding around you.
